What are ATEX Hazardous Zones 0, 1 and 2?

  • ATEX Zone 0 means there is a presence of flammable materials during normal operation for extended periods.
  • Zone 1 refers to arenas where an explosive atmosphere may be present (a mixture of air and flammable substances), requiring specific safety measures and ATEX equipment.
  • ATEX Zone 2 is where an explosive atmosphere may not normally occur during normal operation, but could occur occasionally/for a limited time.

How do I know if a pump is ATEX rated?

If a pump is ATEX-classified or rated, the product description will state that they are. Also look out for the black and yellow Ex logo, which symbolises ATEX certification.
