PE/PTFE Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps

PE/PTFE Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps

Tapflo manufacture and supply their Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps in both solid block polyethylene (PE) and virgin PTFE plastics. These materials can be used to handle almost any liquid substance, including those which are viscous, contain solids or even the most chemically aggressive such as concentrated nitric acid. Thanks to their modular design, these units can also be easily converted into the many different variants we have on offer to ensure that you are being supplied with the most suitable and reliable pump for your requirements.

Features and Benefits of PE/PTFE Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps

Features & Benefits PE & PTFE

The pump has been innovatively designed with up to 70% fewer parts than other Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps on the market. Fewer components mean a pump which is compact as well as easy & quick to maintain. The result is lower service costs and process downtime.

PE Pumps

Tapflo have standardised to Solid Block Polyethylene (PE HD) instead of moulded PP (Polypropylene), which is commonly used amongst other Air Operated Diaphragm Pump manufacturers on the market. There are couple of reasons for this:

PE has a superior wear resistance (6 to 7 times better) to PP. This fact makes the pump perfectly suitable for handling abrasive slurries and preferred to Stainless Steel in these applications. Tapflo also uses different grades of PE depending on the part to ensure the best mechanical and abrasion resistance. For instance, valve seats and ball stoppers, which are the most vulnerable parts to wear, Tapflo use UHMW PE1000 which has even greater resistance to abrasion and mechanical stress.

PE is also resistant to most kinds of aggressive chemicals such as concentrated acids and alkalis. Making it an ideal material for chemical handling as well. PP is instead used as material for the centre blocks, again machined from solid block instead of moulded.

 PTFE Pumps

Tapflo offers virgin solid block PTFE as an alternative to PE as it offers superior chemical and temperature resistance. PTFE will handle even the most aggressive of acids, such as concentrated Nitric Acid and handles temperatures up to 100ºC instead of 70ºC for PE.

Typical Applications

The Tapflo PE/PTFE Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps are ideally suited to a plethora of applications in numerous industries, such as:
