Aluminium & Cast Iron Pumps
For the transfer of pH-neutral fluids, both thin, thick, high solid content or abrasive.

AISI 316 Stainless Steel Pumps
AISI 316 is resistant to aggressive liquids like nitric acid and sodium hydroxide. The centre block, which is not in contact with liquid, is made from corrosive-resistant polypropylene (PP) as standard (other materials upon request).

Diaphragm Pump Options

Our Metal Diaphragm Pump is available in various executions, including bespoke skids and systems, trolley-mounted, with built-on dampener or carry handles (manufactured from Stainless Steel AISI 304L), to name a few.

Tapflo’s range of Diaphragm Pumps has been designed with approximately 70% fewer parts than standard AODDs on the market, and our Metal Diaphragm Pump range is no different! Fewer components ensure that our range is quick and easy to maintain, keeping your service costs and process downtime to an absolute minimum. When used with Tapflo’s patented control and monitoring equipment, preventive and routine maintenance is also easily integrated into any process, enabling accurate and precise control of the pump’s performance—optimising your system to the best of its ability!

A range of benefits cover the full Tapflo AODD range (including Metal, Sanitary and Plastic):

  • AODD Pumps can be dry run without causing damage to the pump; please note that dry running for long periods will cause additional wear to the pump’s internal. This will require much more regular maintenance and replacement of parts to be carried out compared to pumps that are not left to dry run for long periods of time.
  • Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps are intrinsically safe and simple to install due to the nature of their operation, so they do not require any special training to operate.
  • The full Tapflo range uses no-nut, clean-face diaphragms, which reduce the risk of leakage. Our diaphragm layers are bonded rather than held together by a nut-like many of our competitors’ designs.
  • When wetted, AODDs can self-prime up to 9m
  • Versatile pumps, able to handle a variety of process media and installation requirements
  • Sealless design
  • Possible for Diaphragm Pumps to operate against a closed valve without causing internal damage; the pump will stall instead.

Design Benefits

Durable Valve Seats

Valve Seats are under constant stress during operation; for the best wear resistance, our integrated valve seat is made from Stainless Steel AISI 316. These are held in place with grub screws, making replacing the valve balls simple and straightforward with no need for specialist tools.

Flexible Installation

The inlet and outlet connections can rotate up to 180°, which means our Metal Diaphragm Pump range can be flexible to fit almost any installation. Speak to the team to discuss standard and specialist connections.

Low Air Consumption

Tapflo Diaphragm Pumps have been designed with the shortest possible air distribution section, significantly reducing air losses resulting in a more efficient pump and lower air consumption. The design features a non-lubricated Air Valve, available in Brass, Stainless Steel, PET or EPDM to meet various customer installations and applications.

This pump is also available as a TK Pump, the Metal Diaphragm Pump integrated with a Pulsation Dampener, providing a smaller footprint for end users.

Typical applications for our Metal Diaphragm Pump series include:

Factory: Oils, fats, solvents, water, cooling fluids, lubricants
Print & Paint: Glues, additives, varnishes, inks, paints, latex, acids, resins, pigments
Mining & Construction: Adhesives, sumps, dewatering, coal sludges, pastes
Ceramic Industry: Abrasives, glazes, water, enamels, clays
Chemicals: Acids, alkalis, alcohols, solvents, latex, emulsions

PTFE Coated

Available within our Metal AOD range is the Tapflo PTFE Coated Pump constructed from cast Aluminium and all wetted parts are coated with non-stick PTFE. The inlet and outlet ports are made from Stainless Steel AISI 316L.

PTFE Coated Pumps were developed for the printing industry where aluminium was not chemically resistant to their requirements, and a low-priced alternative to the PE/PTFE pump was required. These pumps can be used for applications where slightly acidic or alkaline liquids need to be transferred.

However, in applications where highly aggressive chemicals are to be pumped, we still recommend our full solid block PE & PTFE Air-Operated Diaphragm Pump range.

Twin Inlet & Outlet

Our Twin Metal Diaphragm Pump may be fitted with multiple porting configurations to achieve “two pumps in one” for blending, mixing or recirculation applications, simplifying pipework configurations and the system in general.

There are a few examples of when the TT Series would be quoted for a Tapflo customer:

  • Transfer of 2 different liquids (2 Inlets & Outlets), therefore described as “two pumps in one.”
  • Mixing of 2 liquids with one pump, 50 / 50 ratio (2 Inlets, 1 Outlet)
  • Transfer and return of printing ink from storage to ink tray
  • Transfer and agitation of liquids within one pump

Ball Lifter Integration

The TL Ball Lifter Integration option for your Diaphragm Pump is a great solution for emptying your pump of liquid if there is no possibility of disconnecting the pump from the installation.

With this easy solution, you can simply raise the ball from the valve seat and allow the liquid to flow out of the pump.

Turn your existing Metal Air Operated Diaphragm Pump into a TL Pump with the following additional parts:

  • 2 x Housing Sides for the TL Pump (Aluminium, AISI 316L or PTFE Powder Coated Aluminium)
  • 4 x Valve Lifting Systems (Stainless Steel AISI 316L)

Built on Dampener

Our Built On Dampener Pump is ideal if you are looking for an effective way to eliminate pressure variations on the pump discharge for your Diaphragm Pump, eliminate pulsing flow to 98% effectiveness, and have limited space in your installation. It provides all the advantages of using a standard Tapflo DT dampener but is a compact solution.

Tapflo’s Pulsation Dampener is an excellent addition to our range of Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps, it’s benefits include:

  • Minimising vibrations in the output of the Diaphragm Pump
  • Protection for instruments in your pipework
  • Reduce wear on pump and maintenance costs
