Tapflo’s Pneumatic Mixing and Emptying System, also known as a Pneumixer, was predominantly developed for the paint and ink industry where most raw materials in drums or containers settle out over time and need to be mixed or blended prior to use. This usually means rolling, shaking or pumping to a mixing vessel; that adds time, waste, mess and expense.

  • Suits containers up to 1,000 L IBC
  • ATEX-rating for use in hazardous environments
  • Fully controllable pneumatic operation and control
  • Enclosed product handling for reduced worker/environmental exposure, spillage and contamination

Increased productivity and reduced waste with Pneumatic Mixing & Emptying System – Pneumixer

The Pneumixer utilises the container the product arrives in to mix and dispense and simply fits securely in the vessels fill-hole, increasing productivity by reducing waste and further product handling.

  1. Eliminates problems with conventional mixing
  2. No need for pumping to mixing vessel
  3. No paddles or rotating blades
  4. Fully controllable pneumatic operation and control
  5. No moving parts which utilise the pump’s power to mix & dispense
  6. Variable agitation
  7. No shear
  8. No air entrainment
  9. Reduced environmental exposure
  10. Closed vessel mixing system
  11. Increased product life and performance
  12. Suits all containers up to 1000 litre IBC
  13. No modification to vessel
  14. Available in a wide range of materials

How does Tapflo’s Pneumatic Mixing & Emptying System work?

How does Tapflo's Pneumixer work?

Transfer Mode (Image 1) The discharge valve (1) is opened and the recirculation (2) valve is partially opened, to both mix and transfer the product out of the vessel.

Mixing Mode (Image 2)The discharge valve (1) is closed and the recirculation (2) valve is opened, to allow the product to circulate in the vessel.

Stopping the pump can be achieved in a couple of ways:

  1. By closing the discharge valve and the recirculation valve the pressure from the system will stop the pump automatically. The pump restarts easily when the valve is opened again.

NOTE: When using this method keep in mind that air must be supplied to the pump. This is essential to keep the diaphragms in balance, which is what protects them from premature failure.

  1. Cutting off the air supply. The discharge valve needs to be open in this instance.

We can also supply the pump and Pneumixer with any of our Pneumatic & Electronic Protection Systems to provide even further protection and functionality!

Pneumixer Features and Benefits:

  1. Pneumatic mixing system: The Pneumixer offers enclosed product

handling, reducing worker or environmental exposure, spillage and contamination. Hazardous, sensitive or volatile products are securely protected within their container. All contributing towards a clean, safe working environment.

  2. Batch and mix: This system allows the product to be mixed and batched when it is needed, reducing time, increasing product life and minimising waste.
  3. Variable agitation: Means the mixing action can be matched to the specific product or application
  4. Safety: Air operated control and operation means no electrics are necessary. The SS version is also ATEX Rated.
  5. Materials and sizes: The Pneumixers are available in Stainless Steel AISI 316 & PP (polypropylene) as standard. Other materials upon request.

Available for all Tapflo pump sizes 1/2″ up to 2″. When being used in conjunction with our extensive range of Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps, we also recommend utilising our Air Treatment System to provide the best control and functionality of the system.
