Centrifugal Pumps

Tapflo have taken their innovative design principle and applied it to their centrifugal pumps. This means limited spare parts requirements & reliable, robust and modular design. Available in Stainless Steel AISI 316L, PP & PVDF materials and in both horizontal and vertical configurations as well as Mag Drive (Magnetically Driven) Tapflo’s Centrifugal Pumps are some of the most versatile pumps on the market today.

They can be used in a variety of installations in numerous applications from the transfer of water, to pumping of chemicals, solvents, abrasives and food products. Similar to our Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps, their modular design also allows them to be modified for a variety of applications whilst not having to replace the pump.

Operating Principle

In order for standard centrifugal pumps to, the casing has to be filled with liquid before start-up and have a positive suction head to operate efficiently. The NPSHr (Net Positive Suction Head Required) can be provided during the selection and assessment of the pump for your intended application.

Upon start-up, the liquid enters the centrifugal pump casing axially onto the eye of the impeller. The rotating impeller generates a centrifugal force accelerating the liquid through the pump casing and into the discharge piping. As the fluid is accelerated by the impeller and thrown towards the discharge outlet a low-pressure point is generated at the eye of the impeller effectively drawing fluid from the suction side to the pump and continuing the pumping cycle.

Motor Options

The CTH units are fitted with Safe Area IP55 Motors in Aluminium Casings as standard and are in line with all current Energy Efficiency Class legislation.

They can be supplied from the following makes:

Centrifugal Pumps Motor Powers vary from 0.25 kW up to 11 kW in standard IEC frame sizes in both 50 & 60 Hz and Single or 3 Phase. UL/CSA Certified units are available on request.

S1 Duty Class is standard however Motors rated for intermittent duty also be supplied. 2 & 4 Pole are supplied as standard options however 6 Pole (1000 rpm) & 8 Pole (800 rpm) as well as 2 Speed can be provided upon request as well. Cast Iron Casings can be supplied upon request to provide a more robust casing material for external applications or particularly arduous environments.

Wash-down duty motors can also be supplied upon request when pumping equipment needs to be cleaned down with jet wash equipment. Special Voltages are also available upon request, 110V & 480V for example. PTC Thermistors, Tropicalisation, High Humidity Protection & External Cooling Systems can also be supplied upon request.

Motors can also be supplied ATEX rated according to the following classifications:

  1. II 2G Ex d IIB T4 & II 2G Ex e IIB T3
  2. Ex II 3G T135C (Tropicalised)
  3. Ex de IIB T4 & Ex nA IIB T4
  4. Ex d IIC T4 & Ex e IIC T3

Other Configurations

Long Coupled Executions

It can be provided upon request for pumping fluids such as hot oils up to temperatures of 180ºC. The pump is supplied mounted on a baseplate with coupling and guard included. An additional bearing is also fitted to ensure stable operation of the pump and reduce shaft deflection.

Drain Plugs

It can also be fitted to the bottom of the pump casing, 3/8” BSP, to facilitate easy casing draining.

Retrofittable Self Priming Chamber

Thanks to Tapflo’s innovative and modular design and If you have an existing CTI pump, you have the option to retro-fit it with a new pump volute to turn it into a CTS Self Priming pump. By simply removing the front casing and fitting a CTS casing you can turn your non self-priming pump into a self-primer capable of up to 4.5 m suction lift!

 Reinforced & Semi Open Impellers

It can be fitted upon request.

The Reinforced Open Impeller is recommended when pumping viscous liquids or ones containing solids in suspension. The design is more robust than the standard and is capable of withstanding more tensions transferred from the liquid.

The reinforced Semi Open Impeller is typically used when pumping hard solids and ensures a more stable operation with lower noise & vibrations during operation.In both instances the pump is also fitted with a reinforced shaft.

Reinforced Pump Casings

It can be fitted when the intended fluid has high penetration properties such as paraffin. The casing is fitted with a special groove for the casing for insertion of an O-Ring to provide better sealing and protect against penetration. In addition, the casing can also be reinforced by increasing the number of mounting holes in the pump casing, back cover and back casing.
